ArtCycle
A bi-monthly rotating exhibition for young emerging artists to exhibit their works in the sQuareOne space
At sQuareOne we have an amazing office, but no art on the walls! We are excited
to launch a bi-monthly rotating exhibition called ArtCycle, where young
emerging artists will have the chance to exhibit their works in the sQuareOne
space.
Our first exhibition...
The first exhibition will feature the acrylic and ink works of Rebecca Murphy, the winner of the smARTarts 2008 Festival exhibition with the
Pine Street Creative Arts Centre. Rebecca's works will be exhibited for two months in our sQuareOne space. The exhibition will run from 9th May until 24th June.
Rebecca Murphy's works are an eclectic collection of highly stylized characters ranging from saucy vixens and cyclopean goddesses to sracastic cephalopods and robot lovers. Influenced by a range of styles including Art Nouveau, Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and Pop Surrealism, she works primarily in acrylics and ink. Rebecca is in the first year of a Diploma of Fine Arts, and works from a studio in Sydney's southern suburbs.
Check out Rebecca's artworks on her website.
Following on from this, artists are invited to send in application form and
attach some pictures of your work for consideration. We're looking for
unique works that have a youthful and modern feel that will fit in with the
sQuareOne culture. It can be painting, graf art, photography, printmaking,
graphic design, sculpture, textile art...it's up to you!
The area you have to work with consists of six window panels, each being 240 cm
long by 80 cm high. The arrangement and installation of the works is up to the
artist. We encourage you to come and visit the space to see where the work will
be displayed, before submitting your pieces.
